Solar Power Calculator Pakistan
Size a rooftop solar system from your monthly units, and estimate generation, bill savings and payback under Pakistan's 2026 net-billing rules. All calculations run in your browser. This is an estimate, not a quote — shading, weather, panel quality and your installer's price all change the real result.
Your home and usage
Share of solar power you use directly during the day. Under net billing this matters more than size: self-used units save the full import rate, exported units earn only the buyback rate.
Rates and costs (all editable — defaults are reported 2026 estimates)
New connections: ~Rs 11/unit (National Average Energy Purchase Price, NEPRA 2026). Legacy contracts: ~Rs 25.9/unit until expiry.
2026 on-grid quotes run about Rs 130,000–170,000/kW. Hybrid systems with batteries cost more.
Accounts for inverter, heat, dust, wiring and mismatch losses. Standard value 0.77.

Estimate only, not a quote. Real generation varies with weather, shading, roof direction, panel quality and cleaning. The 25-year figure includes 0.5% annual panel degradation but not maintenance or a mid-life inverter replacement. Under 2026 net-billing rules, surplus credit does not carry beyond the month, so the monthly bill is floored at Rs 0. Confirm the current buyback rate and connection terms with your DISCO and installer before buying.
About our Solar Power Calculator Pakistan
The solar power calculator Pakistan sizes a rooftop system from your monthly electricity units and your city, then estimates monthly generation, bill savings and payback under Pakistan's 2026 net-billing rules. Under the NEPRA Prosumer Regulations 2026 (SRO 251(I)/2026, effective 9 February 2026), new connections no longer get a one-to-one unit offset: exports are bought at the National Average Energy Purchase Price, reported at about Rs 11 per unit, while imports are charged at the full tariff of roughly Rs 40-55 per unit. That gap is why self-consumption matters more than system size — a unit you use yourself saves the full import rate, while an exported unit earns only the buyback rate. The calculator uses city peak sun hours from NASA POWER data (Karachi 6.1, Lahore 5.3, Islamabad 5.5, Quetta 6.8), a standard 0.77 system derate, and 2026 installed costs of about Rs 150,000 per kW, all editable. Every result is an estimate, not a quote: shading, weather, panel quality and your installer's price all change the real outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much solar do I need for 500 units a month?
Divide your monthly units by (peak sun hours x 30 x 0.77 derate). In Lahore at 5.3 sun hours, 500 units need about 4.0 kW: 500 / (5.3 x 30 x 0.77) = 4.08, rounded to the nearest 0.5 kW. Enter your own units and city and the calculator does this for you.
What is net billing in Pakistan in 2026?
Under the NEPRA Prosumer Regulations 2026 (SRO 251(I)/2026, effective 9 February 2026), new solar connections are billed under net billing, not net metering. Imports and exports are priced separately: you pay the full tariff (roughly Rs 40-55 per unit) for grid power you use, and exports are bought at the National Average Energy Purchase Price, reported at about Rs 11 per unit. Legacy net-metering contracts keep about Rs 25.9 per unit until they expire.
Why does self-consumption matter more than system size?
Because under net billing, a self-used unit saves the full import rate (about Rs 45), while an exported unit earns only about Rs 11. A bigger system that exports most of its power earns little per extra panel, so using solar during the day — or adding a battery later — is worth more than oversizing the array.
How long until solar pays for itself?
Payback equals system cost divided by annual savings. At the default assumptions, a 4 kW system in Lahore for 500 units a month costs about Rs 600,000 and saves about Rs 15,377 a month, giving a payback of about 3.25 years. Your result moves with your units, city, rates and installer quote — all editable in the tool.
Is this an official quote or a savings guarantee?
No. This is an estimate for planning only. Real generation varies with weather, shading, roof direction, panel quality and cleaning, and real prices vary by installer and by the dollar rate. Confirm the current buyback rate and connection terms with your DISCO and get a written installer quote before buying.
