Frequently Asked Questions

How are electricity slabs applied in Pakistan?

For unprotected consumers, all units are billed at one flat slab rate based on total monthly units. For protected consumers, only one previous slab benefit applies. Lifeline consumers get no slab benefit.

What is FPA on my electricity bill?

FPA (Fuel Price Adjustment) is a monthly variable charge set by NEPRA based on fuel costs. It changes every month and is applied to an earlier month's units, which is why calculators ask you to enter it from your bill.

Who pays income tax on an electricity bill?

Domestic non-filers pay 7.5% advance income tax, but only when the bill including GST is Rs 25,000 or more. Filers on the Active Taxpayer List pay no income tax on their bill.

Do all DISCOs charge the same rates?

Yes. NEPRA notifies one uniform tariff that applies to all DISCOs including LESCO, IESCO, MEPCO, FESCO, GEPCO, PESCO, HESCO, SEPCO, QESCO and K-Electric. Only electricity duty varies slightly by province.

How often do electricity rates change?

NEPRA revises the base tariff yearly and adjusts fuel charges monthly and quarterly. This calculator uses S.R.O. 279(I)/2026 effective 12 February 2026, and the rates shown carry a date stamp so you know how current they are.
