About our Stock Average Calculator
The Stock Average Calculator finds the average price you paid for a stock across several purchases. Enter each buy lot with its number of shares and price per share, and it adds up your total shares and total cost, then divides total cost by total shares to give your average price. Fees, taxes, and dividends are not included, so the result may differ slightly from your broker's figure.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate my average stock price?
Multiply the shares in each lot by its price per share, add all those costs together, add all the shares together, then divide total cost by total shares. For example, 10 shares at 100 plus 10 shares at 150 cost 2500 for 20 shares, so the average is 125 per share.
Can I add more than two buy lots?
Yes. Start with two rows and add as many lots as you need, or remove rows you no longer need. At least one lot is always kept so the calculator always has something to work with.
What does the per-lot cost column show?
It shows shares multiplied by price per share for that single lot, so you can check each purchase before looking at the totals. The totals at the bottom add up all lots.
Does the average include brokerage fees or taxes?
No. This calculator uses only shares and price per share. Fees, taxes, and dividends are not included, so your broker's average cost may be slightly different from the result shown here.
What happens if I buy more shares at a lower price?
Your average price falls, because the new cheaper lot pulls the total cost per share down. Likewise, buying at a higher price raises your average. The calculator updates the average automatically as you change any lot.
