About our Gold & Silver Price Converter
Gold and silver prices change daily, so this converter does not guess a rate for you. Enter today's rate from your jeweller or market source, pick the metal, weight and (for gold) purity, and it calculates the estimated metal value using standard weight conversions. The result is a metal-value estimate only: shop prices can differ because jewellers may add making charges, taxes or a buying and selling spread.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the gold or silver rate come from?
From you. You enter today's rate from your jeweller or a market source you trust. This tool does not fetch, store or guess a live price, because metal prices change through the day.
How is the value calculated?
Your rate is first converted to a per-gram rate, your weight is converted to grams, and the two are multiplied together, then adjusted for purity for gold. For example, 1 tola of 22K gold at 420,000 per tola is 420,000 × 22/24 = 385,000.
What weight conversions does it use?
1 tola = 11.6638 grams, 1 troy ounce = 31.1035 grams and 1 kg = 1000 grams. Your entered weight is also shown converted into all four units.
Why is gold adjusted for purity but silver is not?
Gold jewellery is commonly sold at 24K, 22K, 18K or 14K, and lower karats contain less pure gold, so the value is scaled by 24K = 1, 22K = 22/24, 18K = 18/24 and 14K = 14/24. Silver is treated as pure in this tool, with no purity adjustment.
Why might a jeweller's price differ from this result?
This tool estimates the metal value only. A shop price can be higher or lower because of making charges, taxes, the shop's buying and selling spread, and whether the rate used is the buying rate or the selling rate.
